What is Financial Counseling?

Financial Counseling is a practical partnership between Proofing Dough and you that aims to get you clear on your current financial status, build a plan you can follow and develop habits that work for your specific goals. We focus on your real-life numbers and money psychology.

What to Expect During Your Session

In your session, we'll:

  • Get a clear synopsis of what's happening from your perspective
  • Review submitted financial documents for accuracy and discussion
  • Determine your money personality to identify patterns associated and possible adjustments that can be made to meet your goals
  • Build a realistic action plan with next steps you can execute immediately

Financial Counseling IS NOT:

  • A quick fix (one call and you're done)
  • Credit repair services
  • Legal advice, tax preparation, or investment management
  • A guarantee that lenders, creditors or credit bureaus will act or respond a certain way

Financial Counseling FAQ & Policies

Clients often improve budgeting consistency, reduce financial stress, pay down debt faster, and make clearer decisions - but results vary based on income stability, debt load, household responsibilities, and follow-through. Proofing Dough Does Not Guarantee Specific Outcomes, including credit score changes, approvals for loans/housing, specific debt reductions, or timelines.
Financial counseling through Proofing Dough is educational and coaching-based. I’m not a lawyer, CPA, or registered investment advisor, and I do not provide; legal advice, tax advice or tax filing services, investment advice or recommendations to buy/sell specific securities. If your situation requires one of these professionals, I’ll tell you and encourage you to consult the right provider.
Your information is handled with care and respect. You control what you share. A few boundaries that protect both of us: Sessions are for financial counseling only (not crisis counseling or therapy), I don’t contact creditors, lenders, or agencies on your behalf unless explicitly agreed in writing (and when appropriate). I don’t provide ongoing “on-call” support between sessions unless you’re in a package that includes it. Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior ends the session immediately (no refunds). Confidentiality note: I will keep your information private except where disclosure is required by law (for example, safety-related situations).
Reschedule/Cancellations: Please reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment so that time can be offered to someone else. Late arrivals: If you’re late, we’ll still end at the scheduled time to respect the next client. If you are more than 10 minutes late, the session may be considered a no-show and will not be refunded. Please be aware of time differences based on your location when calling in or connecting via ZOOM for your appointment. Proofing Dough is located on the west coast of the United States. Refunds: Because time is reserved specifically for you, sessions are non-refundable once completed. There are NO REFUNDS for missed appointments or appointments that are cancelled due to late arrival.
